Following Senate’s failure to pass stricter gun control laws after the Orlando mass shooting, Kim Kardashian West has voiced her concern over easy access to weapons.
“The fact that anyone can so easily access guns is so scary & after all of the devastating loss the Senate should have not failed us!!!” she wrote on her twitter account.
In a sitting on Monday amidst the highly charged 2016 election season, both Democrats and Republicans voted along party lines on a set of measures they introduced with the result that none of the proposed legislations could muster 60 votes needed to pass the chamber.
The reality TV star also tweeted on the possibility of disturbed people being able to lay their hands on weapons. “Oh & mentally ill people can buy guns without a background check too.”
Another in a series of tweets by Kardashian, a Hillary Clinton supporter, said, “So sad! The senate voted against background checks being needed to buy guns. So terrorists on fbi’s wanted lists can legally still buy guns.”
Omar Mateen, the killer of 49 people in a nightclub in a June 12 shooting rampage, was once on FBI radar but later was able to legally buy guns.
The massacre at the Pulse nightclub has reignited the debate over gun control with both Democrats and Republicans differing on approach to stopping extremist elements from acquiring weapons.
Democratic likely nominee Hillary Clinton has said people on no-fly list should not be able to get access to guns. On the other hand, Republican presumptive candidate Donald Trump, has also suggested that terrorists should not be able to buy guns.
