As death toll of protesters facing Indian crackdown in Kashmir rose to 30, the United States has said it is concerned over violence in Kashmir and urged all sides to find a peaceful resolution
“Obviously, we’re concerned about the violence. We encourage all sides to make efforts towards finding a peaceful resolution,” Spokesman John Kirby said while responding to a question at the daily briefing.
The spokesman was asked if there was condemnation from the State Department after The New York Times reported that the Indian authorities in Kashmir had killed 30 people.
Kirby said the State Department has seen reports of the clashes between protesters and Indian forces in Kashmir and after expressing concern also noted that it is a matter for New Delhi to speak to specifically.
