Greeting Pakistan on its Independence Day, Secretary of State John Kerry has renewed U.S. pledge to support efforts towards building a “vibrant” country.
“On behalf of President (Barack) Obama and the American people, I send our best wishes to the people of Pakistan as you celebrate your Independence Day on August 14,” the top American diplomat said.
“Since Pakistan’s independence in 1947, you have endeavored to build upon the democratic ideals of your country’s founders,” he said in a statement.
“Today you honor all of Pakistan’s founders as you continue to strengthen security, economic stability, and the democratic principles that benefit all Pakistanis.
“On this occasion, the United States joins you in celebrating the anniversary of Pakistan’s birth, and we renew our commitment to working with you as you build a vibrant Pakistan.”
