Sajid Tarar, founder of Muslims for Trump, is hopeful that Donald Trump would change his rhetoric about Muslims after the GOP candidate expressed regrets for sometimes saying things that caused personal pain to people.
“It’s my moral duty,” he said, when asked if as an American Muslim he would advise Trump to ratchet down the primary season sweeping statements against Muslims that have caused much consternation.
Tarar, a Pakistani-American also defended Trump’s statements about focusing on the issue of violent extremism, and the Republican candidate’s criticism of Democrats. He explained that Trump is not a trained politician following political correctness and his speeches are not written by Ivy League elites but express his candid views.
“I have been trying to convince him that it is not possible to ban 1.6 billion Muslims and that it is against the Constitution. He has made some changes and I hope he will make further changes.”
The Maryland-based GOP activist explained that Trump’s idea of ban is meant to stop the entry of the “jihadists” who want to come with bad intentions from war-torn countries.
Tarar, a businessman with law studies background, also indicated that Trump would revisit his immigration policy suggestions as he is in favor of legal immigration.
He complained that the mainstream media is biased in favor of Trump’s Democratic rival Hillary Clinton and ignores Democrats’ record on key issues like job generation and governance.
Last night, indeed it was a serious moment and we collectively thought about critical US election campaign 2016. We may have a difference of opinion with Br. Sajid Tarar but he stands for something very important “Muslims for America”. In the name of democracy and in politics any thing can happen at any time and someone like Br. Sajid Tarar can play an important role at that time….just think about.
