What can Rabbis, Pastors and Imams do toward promoting co-existence? What do their scriptures say and what do they teach in their respective Synagogues, Churches and Mosques?
These will be among key questions to figure at an interfaith event “Coexistence in the Scriptures,” being held on September 18 at Marriot Fair View in Falls Church.
American Muslim Institution will organize the discussion in accordance with its objective to promote understanding between peoples of different religious affiliations.
“As a first step, we are inviting the religious leaders from the Abrahimic Faiths to share their take from scriptures and later on we plan to add most faiths to the discussion. We believe knowledge leads to understanding and understanding to acceptance and appreciation of another point of view,” a statement released by Mike Ghouse, Executive Director AMI, says.
The forum will feature speakers including Rabbi Charles M. Feinberg, a congregational rabbi for 42 years, Reverend N. J. L’Heureux, Jr., Executive Director of the Queens Federation of Churches since 1978 and Imam Mohamad Bashar Arafat, a Syrian scholar who attended Damascus University and graduated with a degree in Islamic Studies and Arabic Language in 1987 and a degree in Islamic Law in 1988.
