President-elect Donald Trump has unveiled goals he will set into motion on day one in the Oval Office, including US withdrawal from the multinational Trans Pacific Trade Partnerrship.
In his first update to the nation on his priorities and transition leading up to January 20, 2017 start of his administration, Trump avoided discussing any of the controversial proposals he floated during the election campaign like US-Mexico border wall, deportation of immigrants and a proposed ban on Muslims.
“Whether it’s producing steel, building cars or curing disease, I want the next generation of production and innovation to happen right here, in our great homeland: America — creating wealth and jobs for American workers,” he said in a YouTube message.
Trump termed the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal – advocated by the Obama Administration – as “a potential disaster for our country.”
Instead, he vowed to pursue bilateral agreements with trading partners.
He also promised to end restrictions on energy production in the United States, and plan a new cybersecurity strategy.
“My agenda will be based on a simple core principle: putting America first,” he said.
