Often called an improbable American, Todd Shea has over thee years become an unofficial goodwill ambassador to Pakistan with his steadfast commitment to humanitarian work for victims of natural disasters and special persons.
In an interview with Views and News last year, Shea called Pakistan his second home and also played Junaid Jamshed’s popular Dil Dil Pakistan.
Now, when the Pakistanis say farewell to Junaid Jamshed after his death in a plane crash, to many Pakistani Americans Todd Shea’s performance echoes like a tribute to the Pakistani singer, who later followed the path of spiritualism.
Shea, a vocalist, has been performing ‘Dil Dil Pakistan’ at several fund raising events in the United States, and is admired by the large Pakistani American community.
“My experience has been one of tremendous love from the Pakistani people, tremendous respect. I have been to many countries — it’s only the Kashmiris and the Pakistani people who asked me to stay,” Shea said, interspersing his talk with several Urdu words and recalling how he decided to stay on after relief work in the wake of 2005 cataclysmic earthquake that shattered parts of Kashmir and northern Pakistan.
