Icy freezing throughout Saturday morning, sunshine in the afternoon, warmer temperatures into the evening and winds and rains expected on Sunday – the weather in Washington area is shifting many gears.
Saturday morning ice accumulation remained the most challenging for citizens – making driving hazardous on roads and highways in Maryland, Virginia and the District.
It was in the afternoon that ice started melting with the sun breaking through thinning clouds. Freezing weather gradually gave way to milder wintry look – with the effects of ice still visible on plants and sodden areas.
A transitory sunshine in the afternoon saw traffic on roads increase before a wintry evening spread out with darkening colors.
