President-elect Donald Trump has arrived in Washington for Friday’s inauguration, pledging to turn things around for Americans.
“The journey begins and I will be working and fighting very hard to make it a great journey for the American people,” he said in a tweet.
“I have no doubt that we will, together, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” the message on official twitter account said.
Meanwhile, Trump has been working on his inaugural speech, which takes place after he takes oath as 45th president of the United States midday Friday.
Sean Spicer, who is going to be Trump’s Press Secretary, indicated Thursday the speech is going to be a “very personal and sincere statement.”
“It will be less of an agenda, and more of a philosophical document,” Spicer said.
The speech is likely to touch on Trump’s commitment to rebuild America’s infrastructure, education and manufacturing – some of the key points in his 2016 election campaign.
The schedule of events on Friday includes the president-elect and his wife and incoming First Lady Melania having a tea with outgoing
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House in the morning.
Before having tea, the president elect will attend a service at St. John’s Episcopal Church.
Meanwhile, Vice President-elect Mike Pence has said he and Trump would be “ready to serve the American people on Day One.”
Trump may sign presidential orders on day one in Oval Office.
A number of organizations have also planned demonstrations to protest Trump’s statements during the campaign.
