For residents of the District, who may be discontent with the high cost of living in the nation’s capital, there is a pleasant reminder in a new report – the place remains one of the best to live in the country.
According to U.S. News & World Report’s Best Places to Live determination, Washington D.C. is ranked fourth on the list of 100 most populous metro areas across the United States.
Washington D.C.’s many national attractions, four seasons of the weather and an elaborate mass transit are among the factors that make it an attractive place. And that is not all.
The Best Places to Live ranking considers a lot of factors that a city must have to make it to the top of the list, including a good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market and a high quality of life,
Washington D.C. scores 7.3 out of 10 points from the determination.
The report notes residents in various neighborhoods of the city may have different experiences.
“Residents gather for block parties, mingle at dog parks and converse at coffee shops, creating an ambiance similar to that of a much smaller community,” the report says of the the District, which is one of the most diverse places.
Austin, the thriving business and music center of the south, has been ranked top among the best places to live in, figuring ahead of other American cities on a checklist of conditions ranging from job market to desirability. Tte Texas capital, also known for its beautiful lakes and waterways, had an overall score of 7.8 out of 10,
Denver Colorado, and San Jose, California, placed second and third best places respectively to live in.
