President Donald Trump has reorganized his national security organization, excluding chief strategist Stephen Bannon from the initial team and allowing National Security Adviser H.R.McMaster to shape the key policy formulating body.
According to unnamed officials, cited by The Hill publication, McMaster made the decision with regard to Bannon’s exclusion, and Trump approved it.
Trump’s shakeup means the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and director of national intelligence had their roles downgraded in the initial committee, will have their roles back as regular attendies on thee principals committee.
Meanwhile, in a statement, Bannon noted that General McMaster ha returned the NS to its proper function.
“Susan Rice operationalized the NSC during the last administration. I was put on to ensure that it was de-operationalized,” Bannon told The Wall Street Journal . “General McMaster has returned the NSC to its proper function.”
