Hasan Minhaj, a comedian of the Comedy Central fame, will perform in Washington on Saturday, May 20 at an event promising to be a mix of jokes, satire and incisive commentary on a host of issues.
American Muslim Institution and the Sixth and I Theater in Washington D.C. will co-host the event in a show of interfaith collaboration.
Hasan Minhaj will be joined by Wajahat Ali, CNN contributor and journalist. The event, featuring the two rising stars of the American Muslim community, is likely to draw a huge presence of people in the metro area, as they look forward to entertainment blending wit, humor, satire and sharp commentary on some of the topical subjects, according to the AMI.
This month Hasan Minhaj has been tapped to perform at the White House Correspondents’ Association April 29 dinner as entertainer.
“We are already seeing a great interest, I think it will be a huge opportunity for people in the Metro area to enjoy Minhaj’s witty entertainment style,” says AMI President Ambassador Islam Siddiqui.
A University of California graduate, Minhaj gained spotlight in 2009, when he performed on NBC’s Stand-up for Diversity in Los Angeles. His social media postings got tremendous appreciation from Americans of all backgrounds.
The big break came in November 2014, when Minhaj made his way to The Daily Show as a correspondent, and since then the comedian has been a spectacular success.
Wajahat Ali, on the other hand, is an opinion writer and host at The Huffington Post, and has an impressive list of speaking engagements to his credit.
