Amid brutal Indian campaign to gag protests on the streets of Kashmir, Pakistan raised the Kashmir dispute at the United Nations, eliciting a jittery response from the Indian delegation.

While attending a session of the UN Committee on Information, Press Minister at the Pakistani Mission to the UN, Masood Anwar, said the Kashmir issued deserves to be highlighted in the same way the UN’s Department of Public Information (DPI) is doing with coverage of the Palestine issue.

Anwar spoke at the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, where he appreciated the UN’s projection of the events related to Palestinians’ cause.

“We would urge you to do the same for the people of Kashmir who continue to suffer under foreign occupation.”

Reacting to the Press Minister’s remarks, the Indian delegation tried to interrupt him and asked the committee chairman’s permission to speak on a point of order, claiming that Kashmir was a bilateral issue and irrelevant to the discussion underway.

However, Masood Anwar kept delivering his statement without any further interruption.
