A desert mystique of centuries

The beauty of Derawar Fort in Pakistan's Cholistan desert awaits discovery

Nothing like the mystique of an imposing gold complexioned structure in the heart of a desert. The fabled Derawar Fort in Cholistan is more than a thousand years old. The square shaped fort with large round shaped exterior columns is located in the southern Punjab’s Ahmadpur East Tehsil – around 100 kms from Bahawalpur.

With its color between soil and earthly to gold and elusive, the fort in the Pakistan’s desert has retained its attraction but is in immediate need of preservation so that the tourists and future generations may enjoy and contemplate the architecture and the tales it has to tell.
