With a real time net worth of $ 7.2 billion, Pakistani-American Shahid Khan is placed 72nd on Forbes 2017 list of 400 richest Americans.
The magazine notes Khan, an engineer by trade, bought auto parts supplier Flex-N-Gate from his former employer in 1980.
“His design for a one-piece truck bumper was the basis for his success; the company now has 62 plants worldwide and over 24,000 employees,” the magazine notes.
Shahid Khan, who came to the United States at a young age, is originally from Lahore. He owns the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars, which he bought in 2012, and UK’s Fulham football club, which he bought in 2013, his brief profile in the magazine says.
Khan’s 300-foot superyacht Kismet, which took 6 years to build, was delivered at the end of 2014, the magazine notes.
According to the latest ranking, every person in the top 10 got at least $1 billion richer in the past year.
Bill Gates remains the wealthiest American for the 24th consecutive year with his worth touching $89 billion, up $8 billion from a year ago. Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, whose fortune increased by $14.5 billion in a year, remains the secocnd richest person in Amereica with a net worth of $81.5 billion.
Warren Buffett, whose net worth increased by $12.5 billion and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, whose whose wealth increased by $15.5 billion are third and fourth wealthiest people on the list.
