In the wake of several women coming out with sexual harassment claims against Senate candidate Roy Moore, the Republican National Committee has broken fundraising ties with the politician.
The Hill reported Tuesday evening that the new Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings follow allegations of sexual misconduct against Moore by five women.
According to new documents filed with the FEC, the RNC is not among groups supporting the joint fundraiser.
Moore, the former Alabama State Judge, is embroiled in a spate of allegations dating back to several years, with two women claiming harassment when they were just girls and not adult.
Moore, long considered advocating far-right politics, is running against Democratic nominee Doug Jones, a former attorney, in the special election due to take place on December 12, 2017.
The ongoing controversy has drawn Republican leaders’ calls for Moore to step aside and shaken up the race.
Moore has denied allegations of sexual harassment and termed them as fake news. He also threatened to sue The Washington Post for reporting that he pursued sexual relationships with teen aged girls.
