Reacting to damaging accounts of his governing style in book Fire and Fury, President Donald Trump has rejected concerns about his mental health, saying he is a “very stable genius.”
Trump noted in a series of Twitter messages that his greatest assets are mental stability and being smart.
The barrage of tweets came from Camp David, where Trump met with Republican Congressional leaders on formulating legislative agenda for 2018.
The book Fire and Fury, prologued by his former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, cites staffers allegedly calling the president everything from “moron” to “idiot,” and describing him as uninformed and “like a child,” doing things for quick gratifications.
….to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius….and a very stable genius at that!

Michael Wolff, the author of Fire and Fury, who in the past also courted controversy, quotes conservative media guru Bannon as saying that Trump “has lost it.”
But Trump has reacted furiously to Bannon, saying he lost his mind when he was fired from the White House last year.
The book, Trump says, is “full of lies.” The president terms his former strategist “Sloppy Steve.”
“Now that Russian collusion, after one year of intense study, has proven to be a total hoax on the American public, the Democrats and their lapdogs, the Fake News Mainstream Media, are taking out the old Ronald Reagan playbook and screaming mental stability and intelligence…..” Trump.
He went on to tweet”….Actually, throughout my life, my two greatest assets have been mental stability and being, like, really smart. Crooked Hillary Clinton also played these cards very hard and, as everyone knows, went down in flames. I went from VERY successful businessman, to top T.V. Star…
He then added: “…to President of the United States (on my first try). I think that would qualify as not smart, but genius….and a very stable genius at that!”
The controversy has catapulted Wolff’s book to best seller status within a couple of days as accounts of Trump’s habits and style of conducting government business get a huge attention.
Michael Wolff is a total loser who made up stories in order to sell this really boring and untruthful book. He used Sloppy Steve Bannon, who cried when he got fired and begged for his job. Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by almost everyone. Too bad! https://t.co/mEeUhk5ZV9

But Trump has also been coming down heavily on the former USA Today correspondent Wolff and his own former strategy chief Bannon.
“Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by almost everyone. Too bad!” Trump fired.
