Arconic Inc. (NYSE: ARNC), a global technology, engineering and advanced manufacturing leader, will relocate its global headquarters from New York City to Fairfax County.
According to Governor Ralph Northam’s office, the move will bring approximately 50 new jobs to the community.

“Arconic selected Northern Virginia for its access to top industry talent, global connectivity, public transit options, and competitive business climate, and we are proud that the Commonwealth’s reputation as an ideal location for headquarters operations continues to grow. With multiple Arconic operations already based in Virginia, we look forward to further strengthening our important corporate partnership with this global Fortune 500 company.”

According to the Governor’s office, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority to secure the project for Virginia. Governor Northam approved a $750,000 grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist the County with the project.

A series of new investments are likely to step up economic development of Fairfax county and Virginia. Indeed, the entire Washington metro area, which houses some of the richest American counties and boasts of highly professional workforce, is poised to play a much greater economic role.
In recent month news reports indicate that Washington area may be the place of choice for Amazon the technology and e-commerce giant, which is looking to build its second multi-billion dollars headquarters.
