Senator Tim Kaine has said the U.S. and Pakistan should work as partners in combating terrorist operating in Afghanistan-Pakistan border region.
Kaine, who was the Democratic vice presidential candidate in the 2016 election noted while the bilateral relationship is not without strains, the two countries should remain partners in the fight against terror.
“The relationship and what can be done to defeat terrorism on the Pakistani and Afghani border, it’s still very very important,” said Kaine, who serves on key Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services committees, and frequently meets Pakistani leaders.
The Democratic senator from Virginia spoke in an interview with Views and News and during interaction with representatives of diversity media in Fairfax on Monday.
He praised all immigrant communities including Pakistani-Americans, highlighting their contributions to wide-ranging areas of economic progress.
Applauding the role immigrant communities play in economic development of the United States, Kaine said Virginia has benefited enormously with the growth of diverse communities. He praised professionals and entrepreneurs that stimulate growth in the state.
Kaine also listed out a series of policy positions that Democrats have taken to protect rights of diverse communities and immigrants.
