Unemployment among Hispanic-Americans hit a record low rate in July as the national economy continues to create more jobs in a variety of sectors.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the rate of unemployment of Latino workers stood at 4.5 percent last month – a further decline from June record of 4.6 percent.
The numbers come as the Bureau revealed Friday that U.S. economy added 157,000 more jobs in July and the unemployment dropped to 3.9 percent with employment increases in professional and business services, in manufacturing, and in health care and social assistance.
Hispanic Americans’ job rates started recovering from the 2008 recession and have seen a steady improvement in the last few years, predating the 2016 election.
President Donald Trump often credits his policies for the employment boost in the past several months. The healthy job numbers have continued even as the Trump Administration faces criticism for its immigration policies including separate of families entering the United States without proper documentation.
Vice President Mike Pence tweeted this week that unemployment among population groups including African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans and Asian-Americans is at an all-time low, indicating economic boom under President Trump.

But Latinos are not the only community that has seen employment rates soar. Blacks with 6.6 percent Asians with 3.1 percent jobless rates have also had the employment rates steady, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Among the major worker groups, the unemployment rates for adult men (3.4 percent) and Whites (3.4 percent) declined in July, the Bureau says. The jobless rates for adult women has been recorded at 3.7 percent and for teenagers the unemployment rate has been reported to be 13.1 percent.
The U.S. economy is into the ninth year of recovery from the 2008 recession that hit several areas of the economy.
