In an unexpected development, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has resigned from her position and President Donald Trump has accepted her decision.
Haley, a former governor of South Carolina, led the Trump Administration’s diplomatic efforts at the world’s largest forum – often dealing with some unusual moves in the international arena on issues ranging from climate change to trade and the Middle East dispute after the U.S. moved its embassy to Jerusalem.
In a Twitter post, President Trump called Ambassador Haley as “my friend” before meeting her Tuesday morning.
Later in on camera remarks, Trump praised Haley’s contribution to advancing U.S. foreign policy priorities at the United Nations.

For her part, Haley thanked the president for the opportunity to serve as U.S. ambassador for a country she loves.
Considered a rising Republican star, Haley launched U.S. diplomacy on the world stage soon after the President Trump’s inauguration in January 2017.
Meanwhile, there have been several speculations as to why Haley has resigned including her political future ahead,
But Trump said Haley had talked to her several months ago that she planned to leave by the end of the year.
Haley is also seen as a potential future GOP candidate for presidency.
