A post office in Charlottesville, Virginia, has been named after fallen Army Captain Humayun Khan – son of Pakistani-American couple Khizr Khan and Ghazala Khan  – after President Donald Trump signed a bill into law to honor the military hero.

Humayun lost his life in the line of duty during deployment to Iraq in 2004 and was posthumously honored with a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Pakistani-American lawyer Khizr Khan had challenged President Trump during the 2016 election campaign amidst debate on immigrants and Muslims by holding a copy of the Constitution which guarantees equal rights for all.

As candidate, Trump has criticized the Gold Star family but faced opposition to remarks against the family of the hero who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the country.
