A Pakistani-American, Jawaid Bhutto, was shot dead in Washington D.C. on Friday.
The murder of 64-year-old academic shocked the Pakistani-American community in the area.
Police have arrested Hilman Jordan, a 45-year-old man, and charged him with murder. The two were said to be living in the same neighborhood of Southeast Washington.
Bhutto, a professor of philosophy and a writer, was husband of journalist Nafeesa Hoodhboy and brother-in-law of intellectual Pervez Hoodhboy.
Washington-based Pakistani journalists and members of the community have condoled the death of Bhutto with his family.
