Washingtonians could not get a third successive day of warming temperatures on Sunday. But the spectacle of cherry blossom waving across the tidal basin warmed many hearts as people braved chilling winds to experience the peak bloom.
After 70 plus degrees of warmth on Friday and Saturday, Sunday brought much cooler and freezing weather with morning showers.
The monuments on the National Mall attracted crowds of visitors.
