The next week will mark a celebration of small businesses and entrepreneurial spirit that remains at the core of America’s economic advancement.
In Washington, Acting Administrator Chris Pilkerton, the head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, will kick off the 2019 National Small Business Week that runs from May 5 to 11.
Small business owners, industry leaders and other award winners from around the country will gather in D.C. to be recognized by the SBA for excellence in entrepreneurship, exporting, federal contracting, lending and disaster recovery, the SBA said.
As per the guidelines 53 State/Territory Small Business Persons of the Year, announced by the SBA will compete for the 2019 National Small Business Person of the Year.
The National Small Business Person of the Year and runners-up will be announced at the awards ceremony on Monday, May 6.
On May 5, the SBA Acting Administrator Pilkerton will honor individuals in the following award categories at an event at the US Institute of Peace in Washington D.C.:
Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award
Veterans Business Outreach Center Excellence in Service Award
Women’s Business Center Excellence in Service Award
SCORE Chapter of the Year Award
Jody C. Raskind Lender of the Year
Small Business Investment Company of the Year
Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contributions to Disaster Recovery, Volunteer
Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contributions to Disaster Recovery, Public Official
Phoenix Awards for Small Business Disaster Recovery
SBA Acting Administrator Pilkerton will award the National Small Business Person of the Year and runners-up on May 6 at the same venue and also recognize individuals in the following award categories:
Small Business Exporter of the Year
Small Business Prime Contractor of the Year
Small Business Subcontractor of the Year
Dwight D. Eisenhower Awards for Excellence
