In a heartwarming news for overseas Pakistanis, a Pakistani-American’s pioneering Pandak Farms has entered into an agreement with prestigious EME Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship to collaborate in the areas of research, development and business.
Pandak Farms is part of the U.S.-based Zima Inc. while EME Center is part of National University of Science and Technology (NUST).
“It’s really great to see our investment get recognition. I think overseas Pakistanis have a lot of opportunities to invest in Pakistan,” Mossadaq Chughtai, Chief Executive Officer of Pandak Farms, a sprawling modern agrarian project located 53 kms outside of Islamabad, said.
Under the technical agreement, researchers from EME Center would be facilitated to use the land and modern technologies at Pandak Farms to experiment and grow crops.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, who is due to visit Washington this week, has been encouraging overseas Pakistanis to avail investment opportunities in a range of attractive areas of the economy, and Pandak Farms offers an example to that end.
“I think if Pakistani origin entrepreneurs plan investment through research and identification of lucrative opportunities, they can have great returns on their investments,” said Chughtai, whose farm with state-of-the-art farm derives its name from village Pandak, nestled between Pakistan’s two provinces- Punjab and Khyber Pakhtuhawa.
In just a matter of few years, things have changed for the better in the village thanks to the futuristic Pandak Farms.
Developed on the principle of sustainable development and ecological agriculture, the farms have helped turn this unknown place into a model of environmentally friendly farming. The vintage location of the farms at the confluence of a modern road infrastructure leading to national and international connectivity promise to make it a great place of commerce and innovation.
NUST is a top Pakistani institution of higher learning and research and draws some of the best and brightest students for advanced studies in science and technology.
