Actress Mehwish Hayat got more recognition for her talents this week when Pakistan appointed her a Goodwill Ambassador for Girls’ Rights.
The recipient of the prestigious civilian award, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Hayat, announced about her appointment in a video message.
“Delighted to be appointed by the Ministry of Human Rights as Goodwill Ambassador 4 the rights of the girl child.”

She also attended the launch ceremony of the project.
“Pleasure to be at the launch of the Ministry of Human Rights’ new initiatives for the girl child and share the panel with some really inspirational and distinguished women like Hon Minster Shireen Mazari, Ms Rabiya Javeri Agha, Secretary Ministry Human Rights, Ms Samar Minallah Khan, Anthropologist and HE EU Ambassador, Androulla Kaminara,” Mehwish wrote in a Facebook Post.
“I was really impressed to see how the project is using innovative ways like truck art to get the message out. There is so much that needs to be done and I really am looking forward to being very proactive and doing a lot more for this cause in my role as goodwill ambassador.”

Mehwish has bee rising as a voice for peace, education and rights of the oppressed people as the actress makes her mark as a humanitarian figure.
Last month, she made waves when during Pakistan-Indian standoff over Kashmir she called for artist to play the role of a bridge between countries.
Her newest honor makes her even more enthusiastic.
“This is something close to me & I look forward to actively raising awareness of the issues to be addressed. Lets give girls the better future they deserve,” the star of “Load Wedding” said.
In Pakistan, many girls are denied the right to education due to poverty, primitive social and cultural practices and conservative thinking. Mehwish appealed for support in the mission to bring an education to girls.
“It is an honor for me to play a crucial role in helping girls get their rights. I wish to see a Pakistan where girls are given the opportunities to get education.”
“Lets give girls the better future they deserve,” she added.
Mehwish’s star has been shining this year with a harvest of laurels and awards, which included Pakistan’s highest civilian award Pride of Performance, Norway’s Pride of Performance, appointment as Muslim charity Penny Appeal’s Brand Ambassador and featuring as The Muslim Vibe’s top five Muslim women in the world.
