Thanks God it’s Friday
What a gorgeous evening!
وہ نمازوں میں ُدعاوں کے وظیفوں جیسا
ُاس کا ہر نقش ہے ازبر مجھے آیت کی طرح
Exactly 56 years ago today on the 22nd of November 1963, I was just six years old, running around in the room, when we were living in Karachi at the time.
A friend of my father was visiting and over a cup of tea, I overheard them that U.S. President John F Kennedy got killed by a bullet in Dallas Texas. I stopped, whatever I was doing and tried to listen to them.
My dad used to bring Time magazine, Newsweek and Reader’s Digest from office so I had a vague idea about whom they’re talking about because I had seen his pictures in the magazine and my dad told me who he was.
Well, today 22nd of November is 56th anniversary of Kennedy’s assassination.
After all these years his murder mystery has not been solved. Dozens of movies and scores of books have been written, all with different versions, some implicate mafia, Cuba’s Fidel Castro and even CIA.
I recently read some excerpts of a book written by Roger Stone, who even implicates John Kennedy’s Vice President Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded him and became President.
Well, most of them are conspiracy theories. John Kennedy was one of the most charismatic American presidents, I might as well add.
“Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.” John F. Kennedy
Have a blessed Friday and a wonderful weekend!
