Asian American Chamber of Commerce has received a number of submissions for the 2020 “Jewels of Asia” Chamber Gala Awards which will recognize outstanding entrepreneurs from diverse communities doing business in Washington metro area.
Jewels of Asia is the Chamber’s signature event – having won praise from several business leaders and government organizations – will be held on May 1, 2020.
This year’s event will take place at the Sheraton Reston from 5:30p.m.-10:00p.m., is expected to feature some of the prominent entrepreneurs, lawmakers, Virginia, Maryland and D.C. officials.
White House adivser on Asia Pacific communities and US Business Administration officials have attended AACC past editions.
“The event will recognize individuals, small businesses, corporations, and non-profits that have made a significant impact, and contribution to the greater Northern Virginia, Maryland, or District of Columbia communities and the global communities,” Cindy Shao, founder president of the chamber told Views and News.
The event will feature an awards ceremony, cocktail reception, silent auction,and performances. This year, the award categories include:
– Member of the Year
– Business of the Year (50 or less employees)
– Business of the Year (51 and more employees)
– Young Entrepreneur of the Year
– Chamber Partner of the Year
– Asian Business Leader
– Champions of Diversity Award
– Corporate Social Responsibility Award
A team of judges will carry out the process of picking up the best performers in each category.
The organizers are open to sponsorship from companies and organizations including Title: $20,000, Diamond: $10,000, Gold: $5,000, and Silver: $3,000.

“Small businesses and immigrant communities play such an important role in development of the entire metro area, and what we aim to achieve at the event is appreciation for their entrepreneurial success as well as creation of job opportunities for all communities,” Shao says.
