A viral warning that we have gone too far against Nature

Our reckless greed for more and more has pushed us to the edge

If you go against Nature, as a consequence Nature goes against you.

The coronavirus outbreak has engulfed the whole world beyond race, religion and color. COVID-19 knows no boundaries over class and social status of the people from royalty to the common people: from the parliaments to the street vendors.

Looking towards positive side of the spectrum, aren’t we realizing that simple living, having less, being less demanding, having no cravings for consumption and living close to nature was always possible?

This instinct was always there from the start of life on mother Earth. In the quest to achieve unprecedented ease the ultimate comfort we, as a species, became so selfish that we forgot the true essence of our existence and ignored the life which existed around us.

Just lay back, breath in and breath out! It’s time for earth to breath, rejuvenate, recharge mend for the damages and disasters, to cleanse and reboot its natural process.

We, the commons and the Pharaohs, dictators and so-called designers of the destiny have all fallen victims to something we cannot control despite all our power and riches. The world is facing an unprecedented situation for last two months, for which our world was not prepared.

Everything was going normal and the mankind was busy in inventing a myriad ways to rein in the space. But all of a sudden, an invisible enemy has forced us to halt all activities. Nature showed us that we are no match in face of its forces.

Synthesizing life to the bottom line makes us realize that life is simple and all what counts is our well-being and general health; immunity, metabolism etc. COVID-19 has given me a chance to reflect on my actions. We can survive without shopping and spending lavishly on brands.

I realized that these are the luxuries of life and not the necessities. Life is much more than the materialistic desires and at the end the only thing which matters is our health.

In the midst of this pandemic, one thinks that how many nuclear warheads, how many sanctions, how much environmental exploitation, how many racial and ideological wars did the nations have to go through to establish political and economic power bases?

This virus has brought life to a simpler equation and proved that all this was never required. It chills through my spine to calculate the infinite resources we have exploited to achieve powers and control.

We have trespassed far beyond the limits of seven deadly sins, raising our standards more than the single point – just “live and let others live”.

Legendary Sufi poet Bulleh Shah beautifully presented the philosophy of life in the Punjabi poem “Ek nukte vich gal mukdi Aey.”

At this one point, all talks end
Hold tight to this point, forget your calculations,
Leave the miserable state of unbelief,
Do not torment yourself with the fear of death and hell,
For these are imaginary fears.
Only into such a house will the truth enter.
At this one point, all talk ends.
