Pakistan-owned famous Roosevelt Hotel in New York City will be closing down permanently at the end of this month amid uncertainty over the coronavirus crisis that has hit the hospitality industry hard this year.
“Due to the current economic situation, ‘The Grand Dame of New York’ The Roosevelt Hotel, is closing its doors permanently as of October 31, 2020,” the Hotel said in an announcement.
Pakistani International Airlines owned this hotel.
Located in the heart of Manhattan, the shimmering hotel has been a historic place for the Pakistani-Americans as it has hosted several Pakistani leaders and remained a symbol of pride.
The classical structure of the hotel and its fame in the early part of the last century made it a charming destination for tourists.
There appeared to be no one to take calls at the hotel, which remained a center of diplomatic activity during the UN General Assembly sessions over the past many decades.
The Pakistani and international media persons frequented it during the UN General Assembly, which saw daily briefings and was thronged by visitors from not only the U.S. but many countries of the world.
