A very dear, 98-year-old, friend of mine, Maurice Edward, has been the Artistic Director of the Brooklyn Philharmonic. He produced the famous Broadway play THREE PENNY OPERA for the first time.
At the age of 98, his mind works like a computer. He still remembers many plays by heart. His sense of humor is such that he can turn every pain into humor.
I’m always curious about Maurice Edward’s smile, because he uses it and his wit to hide, sometimes, intense pain.
During the days of the first variant of the Coronavirus, he was quarantined from the deadly virus, but as soon as he admitted himself to a nursing home, his friends started calling him and informing him that the killing of the elderly in nursing homes was in full swing, and everyone who goes to a nursing home is expected to die.
The reason was said to be Coronavirus. No law can punish them, nor is there any investigation.
This is the reason I wrote this play. All the characters laugh, but yes, behind the laughter there is pain and suffering.
.
There is no better way to express the pain and suffering of those affected by Covid 19 than this play, as it’s a candy-coated, fierce, unique, and unforgettable kick in the ass for this system.
Behind the laughter, there’s immense hidden pain, the dialogues complementing the tears spilling from the corners of my pen’s eyes.
The protagonist of my play is a pregnant woman whose husband and twelve-year-old son have lost their lives because of this godforsaken virus.
Protecting the child in her womb, and avenging the loss of her loving husband and son, is the goal of her life.
I wrote this play to expose the hideous faces of those responsible for and profiting from this business of death and blood.
Your canvas is vast and you are an artist through and through. By giving whole life, we get what we give to life, best wishes for your new creation
Dear Mumtaz Hussain,
Thank you for orchestrating this phenomenal play.
I can’t express my gratitude more than enough being part of this great team and your heart’s project.
As our ways met coincidentally, so are the characters in search for another soul responding to their own. The words you gave those characters are truly natural and humane coming from the desire for a changed world.
Like lost sounds of the unspoken.
Thank you,
Deborah
Can’t wait to see it. Mr. Hussain’s work has always been eye opening to say the least. Seems like his take on this new project will be an enlightening revelation as well.
Great to hear this backstory! Looking forward to seeing the completion of this wonderful work! ❤️
Indeed a very interesting and touching play keeping in view the horrors of pandemic situation. This play was written beautifully. Mumtaz Hussain is no doubt a very professional artist & writer. He put his blood & sweat to put life in this play. He collected the best artist according to the roles. I am seeing this as a blockbuster on the horizon of the film & drama industry.
A brave topic ! A much needed exposure of corrupting the system. I will definitely want to see . I have seen Mumtaz’s other plays and my friends and I enjoyed them.
Virus Bomb is a thought provoking play. He highlights the challenges of life and death people confronted during the pandemic. The story Mumtaz has written is relevant and stimulating.
