The Universal Peace Federation Saturday honored Pakistan’s classic maestro Ustad Shafqar Ali Khan with Ambassador for Peace Award at a ceremony at The Washington Times Headquarters.
“I dedicate this award to Pakistan. Pakistan is a peace-loving country,” Khan, one of the foremost exponents of classical music, Khan said as he received the award Richard de Sena, President of UPF, America at a largely attended event.
In his remarks, Khan said he feel specially honored to receive the award and said cultural exchanges can bring nations and countries together.
The American Leadership Center conference drew presence of intellectuals and faith leaders from diverse communities.
Tomiko Duggan, Director UPF and Dr. Zulfiqar Kazmi, Executive Director, The Commongrounds applauded the services of Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan.

The appointees come from all walks of life representing many races, religions, nationalities, and cultures, and commit to stand on the common ground of universal moral principles, promoting reconciliation, overcoming barriers, and building peace, form a global network representing the diversity of the human family and all disciplines of endeavor, promote cooperation beyond boundaries of religion, race, ethnicity, and nationality practice “living for the sake of others” as the guiding principle for building a global community.
Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan is the son of Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, considered one of the greatest singers of all time.
