At least 63 Afghans lost their lives and another 200 sustained wounds when a suicide bomber targeted a wedding hall, turning the place into a bloody scene.
The bombing, claimed by a local IS affiliate, came as a grim reminder of the challenges that Afghans may face even beyond U.S. withdrawal after a deal currently being negotiated with the Afghan Taliban.
According to Afghan Interior Ministry, the suicide bomber hit a gathering of around 1200 people attending the wedding at Dubai City wedding hall. A scene of case with people scattered around cast gloom over the western part of Kabul.
The neighborhood is home to Hazara Shitte community.
The IS or ISIS has carried out sectarian terror attacks in the past, and the militant group’s emergence a few years ago in the landlocked country destroyed hopes of stability anytime soon.
