POEM: Will we rediscover love in a time of war?

Loving our fellow beings is but being human ...Read More

Love is not in short supply

for it flows

in the human soul.

Love is not extant

for it gives meaning

to existence.

The many faces

of hate, greed, and conflicts

that spill blood of the same color

and crush the bonds

of affinity and affection

are love’s nemeses

that have grown

unbridled in their sway

since we are malnourished

with doubts and distrust

in our hearts.

Oh, love is an antidote to them,

stronger than all the weeds

and hoardings beyond our needs.

It’s the only constant

in the ephemeral phases

of our existence.

But loving our fellow beings

also demands a constant –

a refreshing of our vows

through conversation,

heart-to-heart

beyond me and us

towards mutual respect

and coexistence.

Loving our fellow beings

is but being human

and being human

is but loving.

War is the time

to renew this vow

each day

every moment

to deny hate

any more anchors.
