In what appeared to be an attempt to present a soft side of her husband Donald Trump, his wife Melania advocated that the businessman, if voted to power, would be president for all Americans irrespective of their backgrounds.
Melania Trump, a former model and third wife of real estate tycoon, spoke at the end of the first day of Republican National Convention. Her remarks on values and family life imparted some degree of calmness to a day that witnessed a chaotic beginning and heated political talk on some of the major issues including security as well as criticism of presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
Donald is tough but also is kind and fair, Melania said of her husband, who has run an unusually aggressive political campaign with rhetoric against all primary opponents and likely Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.
“That is one reason why I fell in love with him,” she said.
“Donald intends to represent all the people not just some of the people. That includes Christians and Jews and Muslims. It includes Hispanics, African-Americans and Asians, and the poor and the middle class.”
After the speech, CNN reported that one passage in Melania’s speech plagiarized Michelle Obama’s speech to the Democratic National Convention.
The Trump campaign was not available for its point of view, according to the channel.
