At a time when the U.S. appears to have stabilized decent economic growth and unemployment rate is the lowest in about two decades, inequality remains a big issue, especially among middle class communities desiring to catch up.
The reasons for inequality are varied and seem only to have accumulated over the past years.
Experts at the May 9, 2018 a Brookings Institution discussion on the Future of the Middle Class explored many possible answers to fix the inequality and other obstacles at socioeconomic levels.
Will it be politics for the people that determine the outcome? Or a host of initiatives taken simultaneously that will help confront the crisis of the middle class?
On its website, Brookings lists out eight policy solutions that invest in efforts to develop skills of the people, bridge the respect gap and introduce medical and family leave among other initiatives that may help reduce inequality.
